WWKI On Air Staff
Emily Auth
Sunday: 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Emily’s earliest memories include growing up on a 100-acre farm in Russiaville, and listening to Dave Dugan on X-103’s Hangover Café. “I loved to listen to how he conveyed his sarcastic wit without the use of facial expressions. It is more of a challenge than most people think,” Auth said.
WWKI has been Emily’s only radio job, a consistent spot in a life that’s taken her from Indiana University campuses in Kokomo and Bloomington to two years living in China.
Auth’s experience in China was primarily for college credit. “When I got back, I got incredibly homesick and took the first job I could to take me back,” she said. Shanghai became home for two years. “I love the language, the culture, the people and especially the food. I spent a lot of my time traveling – I’ve been to many different cities in China as well as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and Taiwan,” Auth said. She found the process of learning to speak Mandarin Chinese difficult, but can still order her food fluently at restaurants here in the states.
The best thing Emily loves about radio is how WWKI provides a huge service to Central Indiana. “It is a trip, you get to meet really fun people and it really feels like I'm doing a community service. I love it when the weather is bad – which sounds horrible, I know – because we are really out there, doing good and helping people stay safe,” she said.
