Murder trial provokes more questions than answers

Kareen Dunn, a 24-year-old, is standing trial for the accused shooting death of Richard Pippens. Dunn allegedly shot Pippens, who was an Indianapolis resident, in the back in his front yard at Mulberry Street. Witnesses, one witness is Dunn’s brother, uttered multiple “I don’t remember” statements during the trial’s second day, according to Mike Fletcher, Kokomo Tribune crime reporter.

Dunn’s brother initially stated in a 2013 statement, Dunn said he was going to kill Pippens to prevent Pippens from killing Dunn.

Taylor School Corporation plans for cuts

Taylor Community School Corporation Board of Education will reduce 6.5 percent of 9 million dollars in the general budget, totaling $584,000. The board of education has collected feedback and ideas from the community since the budget-cut announcement was made. The school board will announce its plan Mar. 12. The restructure proposal includes: A partial closing of Taylor Intermediate School, changing school lunches and other options to cut corners on costs. Taylor’s decreased enrollment numbers has provoked the need for budget cuts.
