The “Green Team” is helping with long-term recovery

As warmer weather gets people moving, more Kokomo residents are discovering storm damage from the Nov. 17 tornadoes; and United Way is on hand to get you help. The World Renew Disaster Response Services are now available for Kokomo residents through May 2 from 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Residents in need of assistance for long-term recovery can visit United Way at 210 W. Walnut St. to get started.

FEMA aid granted to Tipton County

FEMA has granted disaster aid to Tipton County, but Howard County is still not getting help. FEMA has approved appeals for 19 Indiana counties who sought help for damages during the Jan. 5 through Jan. 9 snowstorms this year. Thirty counties were denied their appeals, including Howard and Miami counties. FEMA will pay 75 percent of expenses that include: road damages, equipment and emergency protection – amongst other expenses.

 

Hoosier rocks ‘The Voice’

Indy Native Josh Kaufman and “The Voice” contestant is proving Hoosier charm is a good thing to keep in your back pocket. Kaufman, who is on Team Usher, moved to the top 10 spot last night. Kaufman was the first artist to be saved by viewer votes after he performed “Stay With Me” during last night’s 2-hour performance. Follow his journey on Twitter @IamJoshKaufman.

 

Pepsi Coliseum reopens with a public open house

The Pepsi Coliseum is spiffed up and ready to shine after its $63 million remodel. The venue – that welcomed The Beatles to America and hosted John F. Kennedy during his presidential campaign – will cut the ribbon and reopen Apr. 24 for a public open house from 3 to 7 p.m. The venue, which will be home to Blackhawks-affiliated Indy Fuel, will seat 8,200 people and announce a full summer concert schedule Thursday at 11 a.m.
