IMS goes country

Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore and The Band Perry are rocking and racing right here in Indiana. The three megawatt performers will be crooning their country hits at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July for the Brickfest Music Festival. The free two-day shindig is July 26 and July 27. Gilbert was at IMS during the weekend to take a cruise in an Indy 500 pace car and root on the races. Other acts include: Scotty Emerick, Drake White, Lauren Jenkins, and A Thousand Horses.


Historical gym is honored

History is made downtown Kokomo and now it’s marked. The Kokomo Historic Review Board hosted a ceremony to unveil a historical marker on the plaza at Kokomo High School’s Memorial Gymnasium. The legendary gym was built in 1948 and is the current home to IU Kokomo Cougars women’s and men’s basketball. The Historic Review Board will mark three other historical spots during the summer; the locations will be announced at a later date.

Holy, Morel!

The Mother of all Morels results are in and we have rewards for the folks who know how to find fungus. Sheila Anderson of Logansport raked in the grand prize as the winner with a 16-inch morel mushroom. Second place went to Randy Pritts of Burnettsville with a 15-inch morel and third place title went to David Lloyd from Kewanna.
