Local firefighters get pay raise

The City of Kokomo and the International Association of Firefighters Local 396 have reached an agreement on a three-year contract. The new contract brought a pay increase for the first time in several years for union firefighters.

Both Mayor Greg Goodnight and Local 396 said they’re pleased with the contract’s conditions.

The three-year contract runs from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2017.

Documentary directed by Kokomo native airs tonight

Kokomo native Ben Cotner’s directorial efforts are debuting on the small screen tonight. “The Case Against 8” documentary premieres on HBO today at 9 p.m. Cotner and his co-director Ryan White document the overturn of California’s ban on same-sex marriage. The documentary has already scored multiple awards including: Directing Award for U.S. Documentary at Sundance Film Festival.
