Job creation in Kokomo

Systems in Motion is moving to Kokomo and bringing 400 jobs to Indiana. Stephanie Moore, vice president of Systems in Motion, joined Governor Mike Pence and Mayor Greg Goodnight to make the announcement at the Firestone Building downtown Kokomo. The newly renovated Firestone Building will be the Howard County home to the California-based company –that serves as a technology consulting firm. The company will begin hiring for 240 positions in Kokomo – the remaining jobs will be filled at the company’s Carmel location. Interested applicants can apply at www.systemsinmotion.com.

 

Hall of Legends induct new members
Howard County Hall of Legends will induct six new members. The Hall of Legends selection committee recently picked souls, who created movements to better society: whether it was helping society understand AIDS or leading a community on giving back. Recent inductees include Ryan White and Dr. Chuck Dietzen, who created Timmy Global Health.

Replica of 'Pioneer' to debut
First Friday is getting a dose of history. July’s First Friday will debut a replica of Elwood Haynes’ 1894 “Pioneer”: America’s first car. The replica is constructed with 1,000 pounds of steel and crafted by Duane Johnson and Vernon Graves. The production of the replica took a total of 200 hours. First Friday starts at 6 p.m. downtown Kokomo.
