Fireworks and racing

Kokomo Speedway gets racing for a special Thursday-night edition. Followed by the first fireworks show in our listening area. Hot laps get rolling at 6 p.m., followed by a night of racing Sprint Cars, Street Stocks, Thunder Cars and UMP Modifieds. Admission is $15, $25 for a pit pass. Fireworks start at 10 p.m.

Peru Public Library opens a new chapter

Peru Public Library has a 100-year history and it’s embarking on a new chapter. The Carnegie Library is undergoing renovations after earining a $400,000 grant from Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. The historical home to books was first constructed in 1902. Renovations will revamp the main floor into a state of art children’s library within 19 months.
