Hoosier hoops celebrated at Summerfest

Brandon Wood is hosting Summerfest during the weekend – a basketball tournament in the professional player’s former hometown. The tournament is home to hoops, but Wood is mixing in more than basketball: cornhole, live music and a kids’ zone will also add to the weekend that pays the winning tournament team $1,000. The event is Saturday and Sunday at Studebaker Park. Wood has been playing professional basketball in Italy.

Gilead House expansion

Gilead House is expanding and moving to a new location at Sycamore Street (the former YWCA location). The nonprofit helps men and women in need of mentoring and guidance. The organization has received a unique state grant – the only one in Indiana – that would financially allow them to acquire a larger space.
