Kokomo welcomes new baseball team
It’s game on for Kokomo. Mayor Greg Goodnight announced during a press conference Tuesday Kokomo will join baseball’s Prospect League. The city of Kokomo will bring a new team to downtown Kokomo’s upcoming baseball stadium in 2015.
“This is about bringing family entertainment to heart of our city and creating pedestrian activity around a new baseball stadium,” Mayor Greg Goodnight said.
The 4,000-seat Kokomo Municipal Stadium is under construction and will host all the team’s home games.
The Prospect League features 12 teams competing in a six-state region. Kokomo will host a brand-new team and the third team of its kind in the state of Indiana. The unnamed Kokomo team will lease the stadium from the city and share responsibility for the maintenance of the facility and grounds.
