Maconaquah Schools start eLearning

Maconaquah Schools is kicking off its second year of eLearning. Classrooms were quiet Wednesday as students were at home learning through the school’s pilot program. The program’s inaugural year was established last school year – making the school district one of the only in Indiana not consumed with snow days in 2014. The eLearning program allows students to learn from home with their tablets or computers. The program is funded by a grant and Indiana Department of Education has approved Maconaquah Schools to use eLearning instead of cancelling school for inclement weather.

The future of the Wigwam

Anderson’s famed Wigwam was recently saved from demolition last month. The 9,000-seat gymnasium was purchased by BIW and Pinebrook Properties and the companies took ownership of the facility this month. The businesses will convert part of the complex to 55 multi-family housing units while maintaining the gym. BWI is seeking state tax credits to help finance the work; Anderson City Council has contributed $100,000 to the project.
