Police search for armed robbery suspect
Kokomo Police Department is searching for a suspect in an attempted armed robbery. Officers were dispatched to Village Pantry at 420 E. Morgan St. at 3 a.m. on Friday, where a man showed a clerk his black semi-automatic and demanded money; before fleeing the scene. The suspect was described as a 5'03" white male between 20 and 25 years old. The suspect didn't get any money or merchandise items during the attempted robbery.
 
Kokomo ranked most affordable

City of Kokomo has ranked at the top of national housing affordability for the third quarter of 2014. According to National Association of Home Builders Opportunity Index, Kokomo is the most affordable for smaller housing markets.

The median home price for Kokomo in the third quarter of 2014 was $101,000 — compared to the national price of $221,000. 

Trim-a-Tree Festival brings in big bucks for We Care

The 22nd annual Trim-a-Tree Festival brought together the community to bid on 79 trees and wreaths Sunday afternoon. The We Care tradition raised $42,763.14 during the tree auction. The tree created in honor of Matt Thompson won People's Choice. Thompson was Tipton County sheriff candidate before he was killed during a motorcycle accident. The tree celebrating Thompson  raised more than $6,000 for We Care.

 

One-year anniversary of tornadoes

Today marks the one-year anniversary when tornadoes swirled through Kokomo; destroying homes and businesses in the violent weather's path. Kokomo made national headlines Nov. 17, 2013 when two tornadoes plowed through the community and brought residents together to help eachother. A historical marker now stands on the lot of UAW Local #685 with the words "Kokomo Strong" to honor the volunteers and community that saved itself from destruction.
