Why oh why

Ever wonder what's up with all that stank when you take your shoes off?

Here's the why behind your disgusting-smelling feet: Turns out it's the busy work of bacteria.

Push aside your breakfast and listen up — because bacteria feasts on your feet. The bacteria chomps up all those dead skin cells and oils on your feet — like a way gross pac man. The bacteria dining on your dead skin cells then forms colonies, and wants to get rid of all the nasty waste — in the form of organic acids. Those released organic acids are what's causing an air freshener's nightmare.

And for 10 percent of people with all those bonus smells. Their feet are extra sweaty and become home to a weird-named bacteria we're not going to try to spell. These bacteria produce more than just stinky organic acids — they also produce stuff called volatile sulfur compounds.
