Custodian accused of stealing meds from students

A custodian at Hamilton Heights Primary School is facing charges. Nancy Jasper is accused of stealing medicine from students. A school resource officer involved Hamilton County Sheriff's Office after the officer investigated a report about missing medicine.  Jasper was arrested Tuesday on five charges of theft and two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance. 

 

Ball State University employees victims of identity theft

Ball State University is fighting against identity theft. Eighty of the university's employees are victims of tax return fraud. Multiple faculty members, including an associate vice president, have filed police reports regarding tax fraud. Some employees discovered the identity theft when they received pre-paid cards for tax returns and the cards had already been used. Officials think the identity thefts may be connected to a cyberattack with a health care company that covers Ball State University employees.

 

Commisioner's Sale

Howard County Board of Commissioners held a commissioner's tax sale Friday. The sale sold off 133 property tax certificates — totaling to $296,654. The properties sold faced back taxes and liens. The properties' starting bids ranged from 10 percent of the property to $100. 

 

New flights for Indianapolis International Airport

Indianapolis International Airport is making it easier for fliers to reach their out-of-country destinations. The airport will offer its second direct flight to Cancun, Mexico, starting Sunday. Volaris Airlines will feature flights twice a week leaving Sundays and returning Saturdays through Aug. 2.

 

Indiana legislator caught in 'sexting' scandal

An Indiana legislator is under fire after he was caught sexting and sending gifts to a woman. The same woman, who was linked to a second sexting scandal with former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner. 

Rep. Justin Moed said he had "poor judgement" during a public apology Tuesday. Moed allegedly sent Sydney Leathers nude photos and gifts — after he responded to an online advertisement. Moed was engaged with a September wedding in the works. 

Moed is serving his second term in the Indiana House and represents District 97, which covers parts of Center Township, Perry Township and Wayne Township.

 

Kokomo Housing Authority faces lawsuit 

A Kokomo woman says she and two others were mistreated by Kokomo Housing Authority. The three women have filed a lawsuit against KHA with U.S. District Court Indianapolis Division. The women say multiple civil right acts were violated by KHA staff. The accused violations range from racial retaliation to discrimination. 

 

Fog the reason behind fatal crashes

A dense fog warning was in effect until 10 am today. The low visibility from fog proved most dangerous in Lafayette. Two people died from fog-related crashes at Interstate 65 early Wednesday morning. Indiana State Police closed the northbound lane of I-65 for several hours — due to crashes at the 188 mile marker. Traffic was redirected to SR 43. 

 

Factory worker airlifted

A worker was injured by a chemical compound at a fertilizer facility Monday. Galveston native Jordon Sievers was working on a relief pressure valve of a tank that released ammonia. The 23-year-old was airlifted after suffering burns to his face and arms.
