Guys: Cancel your gym membership

A new study says guys may burn as many calories sitting on the couch as they do at the gym. However, the study was conducted by a British TV show — so, we advise you to sip this margarita of info with a few grains of salt. 

 

The study says dudes chilling on the couch for a few hours burn 640 calories — compared to 834 calories burned during an hour at a sweaty gym. Not a big enough difference to end your Netflix binge, right? 

 

Gals, we're not so lucky. The study showed women are better off training for a marathon, than a marathon of the "Orange is the New Black" kind. Women only burned 292 calories during couch time — compared to 729 calories at the gym. 

 

The main reason men can burn so many calories sitting around is they usually have larger bodies and more muscle mass, which means they need more calories just to survive. Basically guys burn calories from doing absolutely nothing. So, if you're a dude, enjoy those remote-control bicep curls.
