It's a Tuesday, it's cold. So, we're condoning watching TV all night. We even compiled the new movies on DVD today and streaming online.
Nick's Netflix Pick: "Life Itself". He's read the book, now it's time to push play on the documentary.
Lindsay's Netflix Pick:"You're Not You". You'll learn something about life, and the strength of the tissues you have will be tested, heavily.
Here's what's new on DVD today:
• "The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies" The third movie in the "Hobbit" trilogy covers the one-armed orc's final confrontation with Thorin Oakenshield, and the battle to defend the mountain and the dragon's unguarded treasure.
• "Into the Woods" The fairy-tale musical starring James Corden and Emily Blunt as a couple whose wish for a child of their own leads them on a quest to collect four spell ingredients for a witch played by Meryl Streep.
• "Unbroken" The World War II movie directed by Angelina Jolie and based on a true story. It stars Jack O'Connell as an Olympic runner who survived being tortured as a Japanese P.O.W.
• "Song One" stars Anne Hathaway as a woman who develops a relationship with her brother's favorite musician, Johnny Flynn, while trying to reconnect with what her brother's life was like before his coma. Mary Steenburgen is also in it.
And here's what's new in the past week to Netflix Instant Streaming:
• "You're Not You" stars Hilary Swank as a woman diagnosed with ALS who bonds with a college student her husband hires to take care of her. Josh Duhamel plays her husband and Emmy Rossum from Showtime's"Shameless" is her new caregiver.
• "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby" starring James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain as a couple trying to save their relationship after a tragedy. It was originally screened at the Cannes Film Festival as two separate films called "Him" and "Her", before both of their perspectives were combined for this final version.
• "And So It Goes" stars Michael Douglas plays a cranky old man who's stuck taking care of his granddaughter for his son. Diane Keaton is a neighbor who takes an interest in him, despite the fact that no one else can stand to be around him.
• "Life Itself" . . . the documentary about the life of Roger Ebert.
• "Three Night Stand" . . . starring Sam Huntington and Meaghan Rath from Syfy's "Being Human" as a couple whose romantic weekend is thrown off by his ex-girlfriend, "Entourage" minx Emmanuelle Chriqui.
• "God's Not Dead" stars Kevin Sorbo as a philosophy professor who challenges a student to prove God's existence, when he's the only one in class who refuses to write "God is dead." Dean Cain and "Duck Dynasty's"Willie Robertson are also in it.
