A guy in Georgia named Matt Davis was in a motorcycle crash back in 2011, when he was 22. He fell into a coma, and doctors told his wife, Danielle, to pull the plug — because even if he did wake up, he'd have severe brain damage.
Danielle was only 23 at the time, and at that point she and Matt had only been married seven months, and known each other less than a year. So she could have easily bowed out and let his family handle it. But she refused to give up on him.
A few weeks later, he woke up. Unfortunately, the doctors were right about the brain damage. Matt couldn't talk. He couldn't do much more than blink. Matt also didn't remember who Danielle was.
Three months later, she took him home and started working with him. Four years later, he can talk, get around in a wheelchair, do yoga as part of his therapy, and recently started driving again.
Danielle is currently raising money on GoFundMe.com to pay for Matt's therapy for the next five years — because his insurance won't cover it. You can donate by going to GoFundMe.com, and searching for her full name, "Danielle Josey Davis."
Matt still doesn't remember his wedding day, or most things from before the crash. He talked about Danielle in a recent interview and said he sure is glad he married her.
