The Boston Marathon was on Monday, but technically it didn't end until early yesterday morning, when the last runner crossed the finish line.
Thirty nine-year-old Maickel Melamed is a college professor from Venezuela who suffers from muscular dystrophy. He finished in last place after walking all 26.2 miles. Obviously getting a good time wasn't the point though — just finishing was.
In all, it took him about 20 hours to cross the finish line.
A solid portion of it was during a downpour. Although he finished at 4:50 in the morning, there were still dozens of people cheering him on.
This is actually the fifth marathon he's done to raise awareness for muscular dystrophy. He's also done them in Berlin, Chicago, Tokyo, and New York.
He says this is the last one he'll do, but he's planning to find other ways to keep challenging himself, and inspiring other people to do the same.
