I guess the lesson here is that if you want to be a happier person, consider giving yourself a massive head injury?
A 69-year-old construction worker in England named Des Hannon was working on a house about two years ago, when he fell through the roof, and landed directly on his head. And he says the whole thing changed his life for the BETTER.
He was in and out of hospitals for about 18 months, and still has trouble walking. He’s also deaf in one ear now, basically blind in one eye, and one side of his face looks like he had a stroke. Obviously none of THAT stuff was good.
But apparently he also suffered some brain damage that made him enjoy all sorts of things he used to hate.
He never used to eat things like curry, but loves it now. He also hated watching sports, but can’t get enough of it. He’s gotten really into writing poetry.
Des’s daughter says his brain damage was pretty severe, but he’s not a vegetable — he’s just a lot more open to new experiences.
The town he lives in is outside London, and there’s nothing too spectacular about it. But Des says he loves it there now, and realizes how lucky he is to be in such a great spot.
