So your parents want you to go on a vacation with them this summer to their timeshare in Fort Myers, Florida. You obviously don’t want to go.
But what if they pay for your plane ticket, all your food, and maybe even some new clothes?
A new survey found about two-thirds of parents spend $1,800 a year to take their adult children on vacation with them.
Half of them say they pay because they’re pretty sure their kids couldn’t afford it otherwise; 42 percent do it as a gift; and 8 percent do it because they’re pretty sure it’s the only way they can get their kids to spend time with them.
They’re really not sure when they’re going to stop paying. Twenty percent figure they’ll be on the hook until their kid is over 30.
