This has to be one of the better, unexpected side effects of our social media obsession:
Apparently young people don’t drink as much alcohol now, because they want to look healthy online. That’s right: The cure to teenage drinking is unbridled vanity.
A new survey found 66 percent of people between 16 and 24 say alcohol isn’t an important part of their social life, and one in three say they’ve cut back on drinking because of social media. Here are the three main reasons:
1. One in four say that photos of you drinking could hurt your ‘online reputation.’
2. 35 percent say social media, smart phones, and the internet give you more things to do with your time, so you’re less likely to drink.
3. And 42 percent say they spend too much time using social media to squeeze in getting drunk. Which sounds similar, but is somehow more depressing.
