It almost seems like Maddie & Tae glided right into stardom. They were both teenagers when “Girl In A Country Song” blew up, and they really haven’t missed a step.

But, Maddie Marlow remembers a time when they were thinking about cashing it in. What turned them around was writing their song, “Fly”. She says, “[It’s] a very special song to us. We wrote it when we were in a very vulnerable place.

“Nothing was happening. We’d been together for five years, and had moved to Nashville at 17. I think a lot of [artists] have that moment where they can’t do this, and think they don’t have what it takes because nothing is happening.

“We had to write that song to encourage ourselves and to remind ourselves to keep going.”
