The website LifeHacker looked at prices at different stores, and came up with a short list of the best spots to buy Halloween candy this year. They basically found Costco and Target are the best places to go, but here’s how it breaks down:
1. For mini and “snack-size” candy bars, go to Target. You can get a mix of 245 Twix, Snickers, Three Musketeers, and Milky Mays for $15, which is six cents each.
Or you can get a variety pack of Baby Ruths, Crunch Bars, and Butterfingers for about seven cents each. Costco sells a five-pound bag with six different kinds of candy for $16, which is about eight cents each.
2. If you want to be the “cool” house and hand out FULL-SIZED candy bars, go to Costco. They’re selling a 30-pack mix of Snickers, Twix, Milky Ways, and Three Musketeers for $13 after an instant rebate. Which is 43 cents each.
They’re also selling packs of specific candy bars for a little more. For example, you can get 48 full-sized Snickers for $28, which is 58 cents each.
Don’t sign up for a Costco membership JUST to buy full-sized candy bars though, because you can get them at Target for a few cents more. The worst place to buy them is The Dollar Tree or any corner store where they cost a buck each.
Target and Costco also both have good deals on bags of non-chocolate candy, like lollipops. But the bags at Costco tend to have more name-brand candy.
