Most men aren’t cocky enough to say they do most of the chores around the house, but they do think they’re doing an equal share. Their wives strongly disagree.
A new poll by the Pew Research Center found 56 percent of fathers say they split household chores and responsibilities equally with their wives. But 50 percent of mothers disagree, and say they definitely do more.
Here are a few more results from the survey:
1. 55 percent of mothers stay home alone with the kids when they’re sick — only 4 percent of fathers handle that job solo.
2. 46 percent of couples say they both work full time; 26 percent say the dad works full time and the mom stays home and 6 percent say the mom works full time and the dad stays home.
3. And 60 percent of women who work full time say it’s tough for them to balance their job and their family, versus 52 percent of men.
