Guy claims he didn’t own cellphone, until it rang

A 23-year-old guy named Matt Macadam was in court in Bega, Australia last week, facing charges of texting and driving.

But Matt came up with a brilliant defense. He said he couldn’t have been using a phone while he was driving — because he doesn’t even own one.

As unbelievable as that sounds, maybe it could have worked.

There was only one problem. Halfway through his hearing, his phone started ringing. Right there in court.

It was in his pocket, and he hadn’t turned off his ringer.

He claimed it was his girlfriend’s, but the judge didn’t buy it and hit him with a $735 fine.
