When it comes to football, guys tend to know more about players and stats — that’s what happens when you dedicate 80 percent of your free time to something. But are women may be better fans.
A new survey of 1,000 people who’ve been to at least one NFL game found that women are more likely to wear team colors when they go: 75 percent said they do, compared to just 55 percent of men.
Women are also more likely to cheer; wear face paint; and tailgate in the parking lot. They’re just as likely to remain standing for the entire game.
Just under 50% of guys said they’ve worn a jersey to a game, which barely edged out women. And men are slightly more likely to boo the opposing team.
Just under half of us drink beer when we’re at an NFL game, more than 10% of fans don’t eat or drink anything at the stadium and almost 40% of fans root for a team their parents didn’t root for while they were growing up.
