Fatal crash

A Cass County crash killed one man and hospitalized two victims at 600 East and U.S. 24 in Cass County Thursday. According to Cass County Sheriff’s Department, 74-year-old Herbert Ford was found dead at the scene – and had suffered fatal injuries from blunt-force trauma.

Ford was driving a maroon pickup truck with 24-year-old passenger, Jeff Hiner, while crossing U.S. 24 when it crashed with a semi-tractor trailer, driven by 25-year-old Daniel Collins.

Changes to decrease illegal drivers

Indiana said losing driving privileges and subsequently being arrested for driving while suspended was the most common offense for 2013. A bill recently passed by Indiana’s house and senate will keep more drivers legal. A few points of the new law will put a stop to automatic license suspensions and introduce a “special use” license that uses technology to monitor drivers. This law will not apply to habitual offenders. Moral of the story is still: Follow the rules, keep your license. Pretty simple.

Spring forward
