Cass County man convicted of murder
A 78-year-old Cass County man was found guilty of murder. Loren Hamilton Fry will face 45 to 65 years in the Department of Correction for the killing of David Schroeder. Sentencing for Fry is set Apr. 14 Chief Deputy Prosecutor Lisa Swaim told us the jury deliberated for four hours before deciding on a guilty verdict.
“We are pleased to finally have justice for the entire Schroder family,” Swaim added.
Small city, big affordability
Kokomo is building up and with that comes a robust reputation. The National Association of Home Builders/Wells Forago Housing Opportunity Index ranks Kokomo as number one in housing affordability in small-housing markets.
According to the index, 96.3 percent of all new and existing homes sold in Kokomo during the fourth quarter of 2013 were affordable to families earning the median income of $60,100. N ationally, the price was $205,000.
Mayor Greg Goodnight said affordability and strong employment records contribute to Kokomo’s desirous location.
“Kokomo’s employment opportunities and quality-of-life consistently place us at the top in the nation for cities to live,” Goodnight told us.
