Juevenile charged with attempted murder

A 17-year-old is detained this morning after allegedly firing shots at three people from inside his Gerhart Road home Sunday afternoon.  The teen told police he fired shots at the three people because they planned to fight him. One of the victims is 19-year-old Devin Toole who suffered gun shot wounds in his arm and side, he was released from St. Joseph Hospital.

Kokomo Police Department told us the juevenile is currently facing charges for attempted murder and burglarly – police discovered the teen’s weapon had been stolen. He is currently being held at the Kinsey Youth Center.

Shout it out for Kokomo YMCA

Kokomo YMCA is getting geared up for its “Beyond the Bricks” campaign with a revved-up rally for volunteers today from 4 to 6 p.m. at City Hall’s council chambers. The enthusiasm of the YMCA’s new building, which will open its state of the art facility in 2015 downtown, is spreading through the community and the rally gives residents a chance for an extra sneak peek of Kokomo YMCA’s future. Kokomo YMCA will be closed today from 3:30 to 6 p.m. today.

 

Child Abuse Prevention Month

Mayor Greg Goodnight will present a proclamation Wednesday to recognize April as “Child Abuse Prevention Month”. Goodnight will make the official proclamation at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mayor’s Conference room in City Hall. An extensive list of activities for the month of April will also be announced to encourage the community to get involved.
