Police arrested Todd French and Shanyn Stanley last week after the couple failed to use turn signals and police sent drug dogs to sniff out 8.5 grams of meth in the car. Police later served a warrant at the couple’s home – in the 1100 block of East State Street. Police discovered $15,000 worth of illegal drugs in the home. Stanley and French are currently being held in Howard County Jail on $75,000 bond.

Happy National Jellybean Day

It’s National Jellybean Day and we’re celebrating those little bursts of flavor in a big way, well, not really. But, we are asking what your favorite jellybean flavor is today as our Facebook Face-Off question; so, head on over to our page and contribute. If you need ways for your taste buds to throw a party for the jellybeans’s big day; here are some bizarre, but mouth-watering Jelly Belly concoctions:

Beer Sangria: two draft beer Jelly Belly jellybeans and one peach Jelly Belly jelly bean.

Blueberry muffin: two blueberry Jelly Belly jellybeans and one Jelly Belly buttered popcorn jellybean.

The sweet treats got an early start with Boston candy maker William Schrafft, who encouraged people to send the sweet treats to Union soldiers fighting in the Civil War. The little candy that has a big Easter presence became widespread in the 1930s. Ronald Reagan even endorsed them as the snack that helped him stop smoking his pipe.
