Beyond the Bricks

Kokomo YMCA is building momentum in the new facility’s progress to make its state-of-the-art dreams a reality. The next step in reality for Kokomo YMCA comes Friday — as the organization reveals its Beyond the Bricks campaign during First Friday. The organization will feature music, games and food from 6 to 9 p.m.; as it celebrates its future 73,000-square-foot facility, a $16-million dollar project located downtown Kokomo. The Kokomo YMCA crew will be set up at the former Firestone building.

Fundraising on First Friday

More First-Friday fun will be had at some of our on-air personalities’ expenses. Hit Country KI’s own Nick Livingston and J.R. Dennis will help raise money for CASA — an organization that gives abused children a voice in the courts — by encouraging you to throw a pie in their faces for the sweet cause. Stop by at 7:35 p.m. to launch a pie at J.R. or 8:05 pm to smack Nick with some whipped cream topping. First Friday is 5:30 to 9 p.m.

May Day

It’s the first day of May; so, if you’re dancing around the Maypole and you’re wondering how this little tradition got its start – while other people are wondering about your mental state, because you’re dancing around a Maypole – here’s the info for you. Historians believe the first Maypole dance originated from Germanic pagan fertility rituals, which happened on May 1 or “May Day”. The first Maypole dance was not around a pole, though, it was around a living tree. Enjoy your first day of May.
