Ready, set, fire

Brian Miser has one fiery personality, seriously. The Peru native is setting himself on fire and shooting himself a distance of 100 feet from a homemade contraption to achieve a world record. Kids, do not try this at home. Miser has pulled the stunts hundreds of times – he even showed off his pyro ways with David Letterman a few times. However, this time Miser will be performing in front of a crowd to achieve the world record for “Human Fuse”. The fire and flying all start Saturday at Peru Amateur Circus Building, 154 N. Broadway from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Big hearts, small kids
Kids are helping kids — as part of a volunteer program with Kokomo Urban Outreach. While the latest group of volunteers may be short in height, their hearts are tall. Kokomo Urban Outreach started the program to encourage small children to help the hearts of their community. Many nonprofit organizations require children to be 10 years of age or older; Kokomo Urban Outreach allows kids younger than the average age limit to give back to their community.
