Governor to visit Kokomo for job announcement

Governor Mike Pence and Mayor Greg Goodnight will join KipCor to make a major announcement at 12:30 today at Firestone Plaza downtown Kokomo. The contractor – based in Kokomo and Memphis, Tenn. – has been renovating the former Firestone building for the past several months. Pence will announce how the location will be involved with the creation of jobs that impact two communities today.

Tipton County deputy killed on duty

A Tipton County deputy has died after a Saturday-night crash. Deputy Jacob Calvin was responding to a crash when unexplainably traveled off the east side of the road and rolled multiple times. Calvin was ejected from the Chevy Impala; investigations show he was not wearing a seatbelt – it all happened at the intersection of 300 West and 300 South. The crash is still under investigation.

 

Hunting season cut short
Deer-hunting season is getting a cut in length. Howard, Cass and Miami counties will no longer be eligible to participate in late-season deer hunting. Indiana DNR has shortened deer-hunting season for the counties as a result of declining deer population. Sixty-three Indiana counties will be allowed to participate in antlerless season this year.
