City of Kokomo job growth
City of Kokomo is topping the charts in job growth in the nation. The Bureau of Labor Statistics ranked Kokomo No.3 in the United States for job growth from August 2013 to August 2014. Kokomo has added 2,300 jobs during the year-long timespan, which increased its job growth rate 5.3 percent. The Bureau of Labor Statistics added Kokomo’s decrease in unemployment measured in at 2 percent.
Mayor Greg Goodnight said of the news for Kokomo’s job development:
“Our community is thriving at the same time we are making quality-of-life investments for our residents,” Goodnight said.
Ebola preparedness briefing for local leaders
City of Kokomo is prepared to handle Ebola after a conference call with Indiana State Department of Health late last week. Mayor Greg Goodnight and Kokomo Fire Department Deputy Chief Chris Hall were briefed on Ebola preparedness Wednesday. Although there is no concern for an Ebola outbreak in Indiana, state leaders are striving to prepare local leaders with the necessary tools as a precaution. Six people have been diagnosed with Ebola in the U.S.
Trick-or-Treat hours
A night of fright is just days from our doorsteps. Halloween will take trick or treaters all over KI country Friday night. Trick-or-treat hours will be offered for two days in Logansport this year: including Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. Galveston, Kokomo and Peru will welcome trick or treaters Halloween night from 6 to 8 p.m. Tipton and Wabash will host costumed kiddos from 5 to 8 p.m.
