Flu shot ineffective to new strain

This year's flu shot is proving to be less effective than last year's flu shot — as Hoosiers have fallen ill to a new strain of flu. The flu strain, H3N2, is not responding to the flu shot; and Hoosiers have reported three cases of it since last week. This year alone, five Indiana residents have died from the flu — all patients were older than 65 years.

Elected officials to swear in this week
Howard County officials elected in November will be sworn into their elected postions today and Thursday. Howard County Republicans will take their oath today at Howard County Government Building at 6. Howard County Democrats will swear into office New Year's Day at noon in the Circuit Courtroom of Howard County Courthouse.

 

A hometown New Year's Eve

Ring in 2015 with Kokomo's own ball drop. The one-of-a-kind lighted ball, crafted by Kokomo High School Teknokats, will descend into the new year at the strike of midnight. The festivities for the new year start downtown Kokomo at 10:30 p.m. with live music, activities and more.
