Good news: Boys saves horse from slaughter

Here's some trivia about our neighbors up north.  It's completely legal in Canada to buy and sell horse meat for human consumption. However, one lucky guy was saved from that fate.

A woman in Ontario named Mary Jane Allen was on a website that sells horses recently.  And her nine-year-old son Brandon saw a 17-year-old racehorse named Karazan with no bids.

He asked his mom what would happen if no one bought her, and she was honest . . . Karazan would probably be sold for meat.

Now, Brandon's parents live on a farm and already have seven horses.  So Mary Jane had NO interest in buying another one . . . especially one that was old and useless.

But Brandon's birthday was coming up, so he asked if they could skip the whole present thing this year . . . and use his birthday money to save the HORSE instead.

We don't know how much Mary Jane was planning to give Brandon for his birthday, but she was so impressed that he was willing to sacrifice his presents, she made it happen . . . and bought the horse for $650.
