A 115-year-old woman in Michigan named Jeralean Talley became the world's oldest person this week. And not all of her habits are that "healthy." Here are four things she's done to make it to 115:
1. She watches a lot of TV. This makes sense — it's not like you're climbing mountains at that point. Her daughter says her favorite shows are "Ellen" and "Wheel of Fortune", and she also listens to baseball on the radio.
2. She eats fast food. Her favorite things are Chicken McNuggets and Wendy's chili, and she's also a big potato salad fan. To be fair though, she also eats a lot of fruit, vegetables, rice, and fish. And she started avoiding butter about ten years ago.
3. She lived alone for a long time. Her husband died in 1988, then she lived by herself for almost three decades until her daughter moved in to take care of her about seven years ago.
4. She gambles. Her daughter says she stays active by hitting the casino every now and then, and playing the slots. She also still goes fishing twice a year, bowled until she was 104, and mowed her own lawn until she was 108.
But she says the one thing that matters most is how you treat other people; and always trying to be nice is the secret to staying healthy and living a long life.
