Health.com posted an article about how men and women sense things differently. And across the board, women tend to have the advantage. Here are the five main senses, and how they're different for men and women . . .
1. Women see more colors. A study in 2012 found that women see more shades of red, green, yellow, and blue. Men are also more likely to have some form of color blindness.
2. Most women have a finer sense of touch. However, it's all about the size of your fingers. A study in 2009 found that smaller fingertips tend to be more sensitive. Men usually have bigger fingers than women.
3. Women are better at hearing noises that are high-pitched. As they get older, they can't hear low pitches as well as men. That being said, guys are five times more likely to suffer hearing loss at some point in their life.
4. Women have a better sense of smell. A study last year found women have almost 50 percent more neurons in the part of the brain that helps distinguish between different odors. This could be an evolutionary thing that has to do with picking a mate.
5. Women have stronger palates. A study at Yale found that women have more taste buds on their tongue. So they're usually better at distinguishing between things that are bitter, sour, and sweet.
